Essex meets etc
russbost - 12/6/06 at 09:58 PM

Follow up to a post I made a few weeks ago re the lack of clubs/meets etc. in Essex. I attended the "Yank Night" at the Dick Turpin pub. It's a good venue, & it was a pleasant way to spend an evening. Met up with Jason - MKBlade1 & Gary - Bitten Hero from this forum. There were quite a number of kitcars there ranging from sevens & Cobras, obviously my beastie, a nice Cossie WLR & a superb Gt40. I'm sure a few more kits & Locosters would be welcome, I'm not intending to go every week but will try & make June 21st weather permitting.
The meet goes on every Weds evening thro' the summer months, theres decent food & drink readily available & there's usually a good crowd, hope I may see a few of you there.
Sorry I posted the incorrect date originally

Is this the place ?

My wife works on a wednesday ( no room in my car for 3 kids , unless i bring the tin top)

what sort of time do you meet if i can get a baby sitter ?

Donners90 - 12/6/06 at 10:26 PM

Yep. That's it.
Weather permitting I may well turn up too. Is there a kitcar corner, or the like, in the car park??

What sort of time does it start? I've seen the remnants of the meet leaving around 11pm (on way home from late shift).

Cheers

James

Jonno, couldn't you duct tape the kids to the roll bar?
I think the pubs open all day so I guess you could actually turn up whenever you want, I think most cars turn up from around 7pm onwards & start leaving from around 9/9.30 as it starts to get towards dusk. Some diehards are still there at chucking out time!

I may be there, there is a track evening at brands on the same day, it is £99 with an open pit lane. I am considering going.

Russ, I met a really interesting and helpful guy down the Turpin last week, he has a Dax Rush Hayabusa with 300+BHP, nutter, if you check out this link you can see him on the rollers with his flame thrower

From the above it seems that the next meet is 20th June which is a Tuesday, but then you say that they are on Wednesdays.

Can you let us know which it is as there are a group of Tiger owners which would like to pop down one night.

Cheers,

So weather permitting is anyone up for it tomorrow night?

David Jenkins - 13/6/06 at 03:12 PM

Just at the moment I'm not getting home from work until 7:30 or even 8:00 in the evening, which is a bit of a bugger when you consider that I leave home at 6:30 in the morning...

Can't make this week, but possibly the week after.

BKLOCO - 13/6/06 at 04:53 PM

Looks like billy no mates again then
Can't make it next week... I'm in Venice
I'd have been on the wrong shift that week anyway

Sorry, hands up I admit to terminal brain fade - this may be caused by reularly squashing my brain across the inside of my skull!! The correct date is, of course

WEDS 21st June I apologise for any confusion - mea culpa!

Jason, yes saw the 'busa turbo car, but did you see it take off from the pub? Has a serious problem getting the power on the road - it needs to be mid-engined! (I'm not biased of course) does make a useful flame thrower tho

Just a word of warning to add to those already made, they frequently use a mobile SPEED CAMERA (extra tax machine) on both sides of the A127 near the pub.

Russ

What do you think about the track eve at Brands on the same night 21st sign on is at 16 00hrs on the track from 17:30 - 20:00 £99.00 Tempted?

Anyone else intrested?

Jason
Yes sorely temted, but I wont, one cos I think it would be a bit off having told everyone to go to the Dick Turpin for a meet & then not turn up myself! & two I really must get on with the new chassis/car & if I take the existing one out & break it that really won't help (see my thread under bec - bike engines have no torque?).
I noticed from the forum you'd done a trackday last week - how did it go & are you getting more used to it now?

mkblade1 - 15/6/06 at 01:32 PM

Russ

No I did not do a track day, the car was spotted at Brands whilst I was watching the locost / kit car racing. I am getting more use to it.

On the advice of Chris (Daxman hayabusa), I am booked in for a power run at Track and Road @ Rainham on Monday 19th, they will check to see if it is leaning out and so on.

I may go and do that track day on 21st but I am not sure, depends on weather and how the rollers go. I may still turn up down the Turpin, I can't decide because I am little worried about breaking it or crashing. I know, I know, I am PUSSY.
