Abingdon trackday 20/10/06
Toady1 - 29/9/06 at 08:26 AM

Ive got my indy booked into the trackday at abingdon on the 20th of oct, its a friday btw!

Anyone else fancy coming along in their indy/locost? Its organised by motorsports events (MSE) and costs £109 for the full day open pit lane. Its on the air field with coned off parts, and a very good track considering! was great fun the last time i went, and without any big armco's to smash into. If you do fancy it then id adise to ring them up and book it fast as they always get full quickly!

Lets hope the weather is good!

I'm there in the Indy as well.

Some guys from work went to last months event, said it was very good and well run day.

See you there.

I be coming from Newbury.

Newbury is not the end of the world, however if you stand on tiptoe you can see it.

I'll be there in the Mojo and fingers crossed for good weather

Toady1 - 16/10/06 at 07:27 AM

cool, hopefully the weather will be good!

Pants On Fire - 17/10/06 at 06:44 PM

Forecast for a little light rain in the am, cloudy and dry later.

A mixed bag then.

Toady1 - 19/10/06 at 01:06 PM

better bring the wellies then! LOL!

greggors84 - 19/10/06 at 02:42 PM

Do they do many trackdays at Abingdon? Good location for me, but need a bit more time to shake down the car on the road before I do a trackday.

If the weather turns out to be ok tomorrow I might pop down and take some pictures as I havent got anything on.

What times is it running from and till?

where abouts are you from mate? is your car on the road? if so bring it down! there is usually some places left where people pull out on the day or blow their cars up! They are usually once a month. Its a good circuit to learn how the car goes etc as there is plenty of run off and no tyre walls etc! ive not had mine on the road for long, and am using the day as an excuse to learn the cars and my abilities. Come on down, hopefuly if the weather is good it'll be a good day!

ps. its starts at 9!

Waiting for the DVLA inspection on tuesday before I can get some plates. Was meant to be this tuesday but they messed up! Oxford Uni motorsport club ran a day at Curborough on wednesday, so would have gone to that if it was on the road as it was only £40.

Need a bit more time on the road before a trackday i think, just to make sure nothing falls off at slow speed rather than high speed. Although there is more to hit when driving on the road i guess!

Ahem weren't you guilty of blowing up today and holding everyone up for 20 minutes whilst the contents of your engine were mopped up? Only joking fella, hard luck, get the bike engine in there now!

Can you give me some details as Abingdon is handy for me too.

Who is running it - do they have a website, phone number etc?
Is there a noise limit?

Cheers

Martin

Its run by Motorsports Events http://www.motorsport-events.com

Today was £109 noise limit is 100dB(A) at 4500 rpm for CECs which is strictly enforced.

They have an event in November at Abingdon I think it's £89. Avoid the burgers, minging!

erm.....yeah sorry everyone! oops! found bits in the engine bay of the crankcase when i got it home! think a rod bolt snapped!

JUD - 21/10/06 at 08:30 AM

So what engine next then?

Toady1 - 21/10/06 at 05:50 PM

after the trackday yesterday ive decided to turn the car into a track orientated car and very rarely drive it on the dangerous roads, so im going to go for the bike engine i have sat in my garage after all!

JUD - 21/10/06 at 06:16 PM

Hey - good choice!

How long do you think it will take to get it back together?

Martin

Toady1 - 21/10/06 at 08:23 PM

hopefully after the new year ill be looking at completion, depends on money for conversion parts, and how long im allowd in the garage for really! lol!

Pants On Fire - 7/11/06 at 08:50 PM

Anyone playing next Friday 17th at Abingdon?

Still places available.

Pants On Fire - 17/11/06 at 06:32 PM

Not surprisingly a low turnout today.

I drove to the day in the Indy, I could have taken a bath and not been any wetter, 2 other brave souls in Atoms + a few tin tops a Striker and me.

What a hoot! 3" of standing water in the afternoon on some parts of the track, morning sessions were mostly dry.

The drive home was just as entertaining, rivers across the road and huge puddles

Speedo died on the way home, probably just through being rained on all day

Toady1 - 18/11/06 at 08:55 AM

sounds like it was even more slippery than the last one then! lol! unfortunately mines looking like a half built project atm sitting in the garage with no front end body work on, and no engine!
