Whisbones
Dirk - 21/11/08 at 05:20 PM

Hi,
I am not building a locost, but I am about to build a new chassis for my Nova kit car. I will be using the Rorty design www.rorty-design.com/content/beetle.htm.

This is a V8 mid engine chassis. The problem I have is that my skills are not up to the job of building the wishbones and rear hub carrier.

So the question is, is there anyone on this forum who has the skill set and are prepared to make me a set if I supply the drawing?

Or

Does anyone know of a company that could make them?

Regards

Dirk

I hope you post some pictures of your progress. I have always been a fan of the Nova.

AJ Fabrications in Northampton, I work in F1 and they have done all manner of fabrications for us and previous cosworth for years, top job at very reasosnable prices.

They are based in northampton so if youre anywhere near i'd recommend going down and having a chat with them so you can explain exactly what it is you need, they are always happy to help!

Hi All thanks for all the help.
I have had this Nova for about 7 years it has a Subaru 2.2lt injection engine at the moment, but has been off the road for the last 3 years. So it is time for somthing new hence the Chassis and I am not aware of another Nova in this contry that has a mid V8 so it could be a chalange.

Are you sure there's enough room for an engine ahead of the rear axle? Seems to me that the cockpit on a Nova is too far to the rear to make a mid engine easy.
Transverse, maybe?

I will have to cut away the rear bulk head (is it a bulk head at the back?) and then make a new one just behind the seats, so you end up with about the same space as a GT40.
Steling in the US do a mid engine chassis, for the Nova called the sterling in the US, the pisc they have got only show a 4 cylinder engine Scooby I think but you can see ther is still lots of room for another 4 cylinders.
