How to attach the sump guard?
speedyxjs - 8/4/10 at 06:24 AM

I have made a nice sump guard for my ultra low sump.

I am unsure though of how best to attach it. I was thinking id weld it but would it ever need to be removed?

could you ever envisage taking the sump off in situ? or do you need access to anything that it will cover up?

If so it needs to be removable

If youve already made it where did you make it to attach to?
Sump/Chassis/Other?

Id make it removeable... Purely in case you did need to take the sump off, seeing as the engine is so heavy. Not an eay one to "Whip out".

Weld some heavy duty mounting points to the chassis rails, e.g. a bit of square section cut off the end of a tube at an angle to form a triangle (if that makes sense).

Check on usa7's or Blat Chat for this. There was an ingenious way of attaching them on there. Basically, cut slots in the guard, and use a hose clamp, wrapped in rubber. Attach to lower chassis. Removable, easy and efficient.
