I have just in the process of starting single seater chassis, building of the cuff but if anyone got has got any plans they would be greatly appreciated. I have an idea what i want but a bit in the dark about suspension geometry

Is the kitchen involved this time, or is that time saved for engine/gearbox. ?

Try a t89 designs chassis from Callan

Get a copy of the Building your own Bike Engined single seater book by Pashley iirc, will walk you thru all the major areas with ease.
Further geometry reading is from Alan Stanniforths books, Race and Rally Car Data source book and Competition Car Suspension

I always wonder what the point of these cars are if your not competing as you can't take a passenger or carry anything plus these things are usually so much faster than anything else on track saw it must get dull just passing everything or more often queuing to get past everyone that's so much slower in the corners .

To be fair what else are you gonna get with F1 levels of power to weight, and the ability to corner at twice the levels of a road based car. Hyper car performance for £6-£7 grand? Nah can't see the point either ;-)

I guess it's each to their own, I for instance think track days are pointless as they aren't timed--no competition, so what's the point? Others love them of course. As for a passenger, I don't like someone screaming their lungs out in my close vicinity so again not my thing ;-)

It is rare to find a trackday which will allow open wheeled cars.

Nice one mate... sounds like fun.

I'm building an atom replica at the moment, so would like to know what you find out about steering and suspension. I'm currently almost in the dark.

the ones I've come across on track days with arches on are so much quicker it must be really frustrating not getting much more than a couple of corners without having to queue up behind normal cars to the next passing point .
