CDS tubing
omega 24 v6 - 28/12/05 at 05:27 PM

I've been offered the chance of some 25mmO/D by 3mm wall cds offcuts if I want them. I figured they'd be Ok for the trailing arms and panhard rod. I know from other threads that thicker does not mean stronger for front wish bones but disregarding the weight issue is there any other reason i should not make my bones from this material as well. I only ask as it,s Locost material

cds being cold drawn seamless? so, though imho 3mm is overkill, this is the ideal material for all the suspension tubes

I appreciate the overkill statement but the price should be right. The only issue may be squashing the lower front bones at the ball joint plates. Would heating them cause a problem? or we've a 5 ton press at work which might do the job.

what do you need to squash em for ?

what length of tubes will u be getting

The book bottom bones shows the outer most part of the tube where it attaches to the cortina b/joint as crushed.
Are you thinking that I should bend the tube around a flat plate as per the MK(Ithink) and use the maxi ball joint?
I already have the cortina ones but could quite easily change I suppose as the manufacture would probably be easier.

Hows the nose cone coming on by the way Volvorsport?

not very well at the moment .

im trying to change the design of me chassis , and was gong to build a different nosecone .

ill see if i can get it to work without having to change the design .

it wouldnt take long to get it to molding stage at present , if i was presented with a rush of buyers !!!
