peterriley2 - 15/6/06 at 08:40 PM

i wanted to change the hub carriers- (i think thats what their called- the bit the alloys attaches onto) from the normal sierra ones to 5 stud ones (ive seen some nice 5 stud alloys on ebay). how hard it this to do, and would i be able to change them back if i wanted to? help would be appreciated!!!

i can only comment on the drum rears

undo hub nut
get 5 stud off granada
hammer 4 stud off
put 5 stud on
redo hub nut

fit new alloy

would that work for disks do you know?

would be similar

but im guessing instead of remove drum

remove calipers, carriers, pads discs etc

and undoing the hub nut will be fun (from memory i cant remember if the hub nut is underneath the disc

On the rears you would find the hub nut outside facing you as you take the wheel off.
On the fronts you would find the hub nut inboard behind the dust cover.

Front and rear hub nuts are done up to about 280Nm of the top of my head.

I would be interested to know how you make out on this swap. Our Merkur XR4ti is the 4 bolt and the scorpio is the 5 bolt. I too thought they were interchangeable, so got one of each.
Turns out that they are different designs altogether. The 4-bolt has the bearings nounted on the lobro shaft part and the 5 bolt has the bearings mounted on the whell hub half. Maybe different for the Sierra family
