Hi Guy
Can anyone help me with a simple question? What is the best ride height for a locost with IR, I'm thinking about 5" from the ground to the
underside of the chassis, is this OK?
Thanks
Dave
I'm sorry it's not a very concise reply as I don't know all details of your car and not familiar with the locost, but just to give you
an idea my car is:
Mac1 motorsports (same as mk indy!) Bike engined car. with 15 inch wheels, 195.50/15's
FRONT: 100mm (measured at centre of wheel, from floor to bottom of chassis with me in it)
REAR: 125mm (measured same way as front!)
I will add that I've never ground or touched the sump at all (road car, and sump is lowest point)

My car has about 4.5 inches under the exhaust silencer. Its a little lower at the front, a little higher at the rear.
TVR 390SE s2, and I HAVE scraped it slightly once. but that was on a big speed bump and I was doing about 0.1MPH

5" sounds fine. I also find the exhaust bracket is the lowest point & I lost a couple of nuts on this until I raised the rear to the 5"
level.
The only thing that ever touches now is the number plate bracket:- I should be able to take a couple of cm off this though by minimising its
dimensions & remaking the bracket
The bottom of mine is completely flat, 4.5" rear, 4" front, only dragged on farm track once, 185/60/13 tyres.

Thanks to you all, I thought I was about right but its god to have it confirmed.
Thanks
Dave
My car, having a standard chassis, is remarkable similar to an old-style Westfield (ahem...). Because of this, I used the Westie values as a
guide:
Front ride height: 5.75", variation of +1" to -2"
Rear ride height: 6.25", variation of +1" to -2"
I use their standard heights, which work very well and give me just over 100mm clearance under the bellhousing.

Been checking today.
- My chassis will be at 125 mm front, rear 140-150 mm.
- sump at 75 mm above ground zero
Rear higher to compensate drag and low roll-centre at rear. (next car will have the Rc higher ;-) )
Tyres 195/65R14
