anyone know where to get hold of approx 40mm x 15mm rounded edge, box section stuff to use as the headlamp extension brackets (about 500mm should
do)...
saying that does anyone know how far from the front of the Locost chassis I should mount them and how far out they should be??
Thanks
Ade.
Go to B&Q and get some box section. You'll probably want to mount them above the spring tops - that way they won't get hit every time
you turn the wheel

I've got box section... I'm after the stuff with the rounded edge.
Any clue where to get a short piece?
I used Round tube and welded a plate on the end to allow it to bolt down to the chassis. (Guess you could just bolt through without the flat plate).
Then at the other end (headlamp) just closed the end with the vice and filed (ground) it smooth and round. That bit was then drilled to mount the
headlamp.
Why can't you take a sanding pad for a grinder and round the edge of the box section you have?
There should be plenty material to do this as this will not be structural only a bracket.
Mine Sit about 50mm forward of the back of the nose cone. and stick out far enough to allow center of headlamp to meet SVA spacing distance as per SVA
Manual.
Note you may need to put extensions on you inidcators, to meet minimum spacing etc. depending where you mount them

I think what he's after is some of the oval section tube that most manufacturer's make their wishbones from
Might be best to contact MK, MNR, MAC1 and the like and see if they'll sell you an off cut.
Alternatively, IIRC I only paid £20 for a finished headlamp bar from MK made from the same stuff with nice round ends welded on for mounting the lamps
on.
I have made mine using black metal electrical conduate. You know the stuff you see in sites that have wall sockets surface mounted.
Then have two plates made from two in box section with bottom cut off and one face radiused to match outside diameter of conduate and the headlight
bolts to that.
Mine sits on the top rail and bolts to that using two plates made of 3/4 box with top face removed and sides removed.
nick is right... i'm just after the tubes ... and the distance between the centre of the headlights/ heights etc..
i know it's in the sva book but i don't have it
Here we go - hopefully

You could always just flatten some
round section off with the vice not like its a long length required!!
Allegedly certain shopping trolleys have a nicely profiled section to them.
Not that I would condone such activities, but if you see one in the scrapyard
