Why is the sierra steering rack not a frequent used rack?
I have a dimension between the joints of 750.81 mm is this right?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Cobra289
The Sierra rack IS a commonly used rack. Certainly most MK Indys (amongst others) use this rack.
With regards to the dimensions between joints, what vehicle are you fitting it to? Obviously this will determine your rack length in order to negate
bump steer.

IIRC it is used by at least MK, as a shortened version. The body is made of aluminium unlike the escort/Cortina type which is steel so can be
difficult to weld. It is easier to fit though due to having only 2 bolts rather than other having 4 plus clamps and rubber mounts. Ideally the joints
you speak of should be inline with the inner upper and lower wishbone bolts when the wheels are pointing dead ahead. If done that way (you can raise
and lower the racks mounting position to achieve this) you will practically eliminate bump steer.

Mk use a shortened one, they will happily sell you it.

Just to clarify, the rack MK provide is a standard Sierra rack which is cut down to suit their chassis. If you think it may be suitable but can't
get the dimensions before, I can measure the length for you this evening?

Sorry, I was busy last night and didn't manage to measure the rack. I'll do it this evening and drop you a U2U.
