hi ive nearly finished my mk indy spec r, and my lass very kindly bought me the team dynamics 13" light weight alloys from MAC 1 Motosport (Great guys)
eany way with the wheels been smaller ive lost a full turn on my steering lock as the inside edje of wheel is tuching lower wish bone!!
i thought about some 5 mm wheel spacers but there isnt much thread for wheel nuts when they are on the next thing would be to notch the wish bone out it would only need 10 mm to make a big difference?? what is best way to notch wish bone and keep it strong!!
the push rod for inboard shocks is mounted on the front leg of lower wishbone and its the rear leg that needs modding ???

you could maybe make a travel limit stop that either uses a flange on the track rods hitting a bolt or a bracket bolted to the upright that bumps into a bolt mounted on the wish bone. My old nissan has that.

you can replace the studs in the hubs with longer ones btw, this is the normal practice when installing spacers.

I would also vote against notching the wishbones!

I know it's a bit late seeing as you've got the wheels already, but is the offset correct?.

You will need to fit lock stop collars on the steering rack

"notching" the wishbones is NOT an option, you will weaken them and risk failure in use.

As britishtrident says, if have enough lock either way for most practical purposes then some lock-stop collars to the ends of the rack will do the job.

Another vote for not risking killing yourself but instead restricting the steering rack, yopu will probably find the wheel arches will hit the headlights if you dont anyway later on.

Nigel (Jabbahut) did his recently while we were sorting his suspension geometry using half a poly bush per side under the gaiter - and it restricted the rack perfectly.

stop lock colalrs are what westfield use on their kits that have wider track if that helps.

Hi fit longer studs as said above ^^^ and a set of spacers to give the clearance. Should only require 10-12mm to give sufficient clearance. Will not effect the geometry too much.

Or get hold of a set of wheels with different offset although i assume you have already spent on the wheels you have and like etc.

The Westfield supplied steering racks do not have lock stop collars fitted as said above. They have a rack manufactured for them that has the correct lock to lock movement built in as std. However they use the good old MK2 escort rack not the Sierra one that MK use and modify.
