My engine is mid mounted, so do I need a bulkhead to partion the cabin off from the rack, rad and fluids etc? Or do I just need to be able to show that the front of the cabin is protected from the outside?
I would, just in case something falls off and embeds itself in your leg....or worse!!

Nick, agreed but the Yanks don't call it a firewall for nothing. Having seen the damage fire can do to flesh and bones (mate who crashed &
burnt at le Mans) I'd be thinking about self-preservation rather than regulations.

no you don't need it for the SVA, but realistically it will be drafty, wet and rather unpleasant, unless you are sealing up the inner arches (or
whatever you have on the car) with rubber boots over the trackrods?

OK, that's good to know. To be honest, it was more of a hypothetical question. There will be protection of course, but wasn't sure whether
the driver had to be sealed off from the rack, master cylinders and so on. It's simply easier to moce the bulkhead in front of these.

A bit warm with the air from the rad'. Risk of scolding should a coolant hose or the rad burst. Very difficult to seal the track rods as they pass through the innerwings due to thier range of movement.
How about using some old car inner tube to make a flexible gaiter to seal the steering rack to the bulkhead.
I mean it doesnt have to be indestructible. Just enough to give you some minor protection from spilled liquids (even battery acid?) etc.
I would not have it open into the cab area. in the event of an accident it may not be the fluids from your car that get you.
Hmmm could even save you from a wasp getting blown up your trouser leg or simmilar!.
