Indy 'boot' cover options
FASTdan - 11/12/08 at 12:55 PM

Our part built kit came with no cover for the rear end above the fuel tank etc.

What are the options here? I notice from the odd picture that some seem to have a presstud PVC (?) kind of affair - I quite like this idea. Are they available from MK etc?
what other options are there?

For the time being we intend on simply covering this area, however in the future we will probably board out the compartment to make a small storage space so the cover needs to be a removable type really.

Pics of what you guys have done in this area would be great. cheers.

I used some thin plywood covered with leathercloth to make a simple cover.

I later modified this to give me a small boot lid. The boot box is a plastic storage box which cost a couple of quid.

It's quite handy as it is big enough to keep a toolset, tyre repair stuff and jack etc in.

Made an ally cover.. For SVA this is just a panel that is sandwiched by the roll bar bolts and chassis. Latter I will cut a boot lid, and make a boot..

I have a soft cover. Go and ebay and type in boot cover, in the kit car section. £30ish, any colours you like, made to measure (you fill in a template with dims for him to cut from)

Came super fast, inc pressstuds. I went for genuine velcro instead though, cos I don't like the pressstuds personally.

Its' great, and looks good IMO.

We made our own boot box from a couple of strips of aluminium and some thin plywood covered with carpet. It makes use of the maximum amount of space in the rear of the Indy and can hold quite a lot. Best of all, it can be easily removed with just four screws.

More details on our website.
