Went intot he garage today to fit my new can (cheers MK for a mega price, £165 delivered, which i think is better than the group by they offered!)

Anyways, appreciate I am going to need to cut the link pipe down to size at both end, but I am more concerned about fabricating a mount of some sort.

As you can see from the pics the can has two little tabs weleded to it at (child language) 9 o'clock.

What would you imaginative guys do to knock up a mount. I do not want the can too close to the body work due to obvious reasons, which is also a concern.

so, any ideas, suggestions or pics?

Obv the can will be a few inches lower as its on a couple of axel stands presently

MK use a fiesta engine mounting on there cars,and thats what I used on mine,you then need to bolt a piece of steel strip under the floor and the bottom chassis rail,and bend it round to the bracket,then use the mounting rubber between them to hold it firm,they do not use the front mount,you can cut this off,or just bend it in towards the link pipe,heres a example of the mounting you need.

Also,before you fit it you can have it polished,or polish it yourself,they look alot better.

Just out of interest what was wrong with the old can??

i would imagine it was too loud for track days

I used a stabiliser of a childs bike. Basically an L shaped bracket that bolts to the chassis under the car. It's got two little rubber exhaust mounts between this and the can. Works really well and looks good. I have a spare if necessary.

i made up a bracket the bolted into the bottom rail, underneath the car, it bends and comes up the side. i made it so it can be taken away and you dont see anything. for my 'loud' exhaust

If you use rubber exhaust bobbins they are designed to be compressed rather than shear

had to firstly take about three inches off my link pipe. a sperate pipe between mani and the can.

then made an l shaped bracked bolted to the floor and to the rear exhaust mount.

problem i have no is the can seem to want to roll towards to ground so the outlet pipe is really low. no matter how much i bend or tighten in.

good news is the car is sooo much quieter. really happy with it overall as trackday noise will not be as much of an issue (at elast this should see me on to a 105 day at brands lol)
