Hi, I am looking at my INDY and dont understand why the engine is not parallel to centre line and stands with some angle? And also the crankcase is 5 cm lower than the bottom of the chassis, so if I want my car to be 10 cm from the ground the crankcase is only 5 cm from the ground!! It schould be a problem.

have you got a shortened sump?
Normal an OK for UK roads, though it is customary to move the drain plug to the side, that gains 15mm and makes it safer
have you seen hellfires original build diary? Check that out, should give you some good images for comparison but sounds about right to me.

Engine is angled so as to get as straight a propshaft as possible, don't worry MK have been doing this sort of work for more years than I care to
remember and know what there doing. as said have the sump plug moved to the side. can't remember who it is on here that does it but again
he's been doing it for years.

my engine is aligns with the side rail, it gives you a bigger footwell.
Prop out of alignment is good as the UJ's last longer, if you think this is horrible have a look under a rangerover at the angles involved here,
they get far worse off road, I had to grind back the UJ's for serious articulation.
This early picture shows how far over it is, counter balances me driving.
I also chopped a load off the sump so its now flush with the floor, its around 1" deep now with a baffle.

5cm between the lowest bit of the sump and the road is asking for trouble in my experience. I tried running 75 for a while and was getting a little scraping now I run 80-90 (depends on suspension travel) and it's much better.
the engine is original, the sump is not shortened. Desided to lift the engine about 2 cm.
