MK's new body IVA query
iscmatt - 29/1/10 at 12:30 PM

So, say i was interested in changing my indy into the new H7. What would be the requirement of the IVA and DVLA, what would one have to do?

Would it have to go through IVA again?

Would it have to pass DVLA inspection?

Or would it be a case of updating the details for the DVLA and insurance?

thanks!

I cant see you needing to go through all that palaver again as you are not changing the chassis or physical structure.
its a non structural body that you would be cloaking the normal car with....

If the chassis stays the same, its just dvla would need to be told.

I don't really know I don't think it's any different from using a body kit, chassis is the same.. You should not need an IVA.

As above - not needed IMHO

If its just a body change I wouldnt bother.
ie the overall shape stays the same.
The Chassis has the VIN. Its a Chassis and Body Car, and NOT a Monocoque car, in which case you would be effectively changing the "chassis" and need to tell the DVLA.
ie Like changing a Luego to a MK body. Its still a Se7en shape and silhouette. The chassis with the VIN stays the same.
Unless you are radically changing the shape or type of body I dont think it would be a problem.
ie changing it from a open top to a permantly closed top with doors, or to a Pickup truck.
Then you definitely need to tell the DVLA as its style of car change.
You will also need to tell them if the colour changes!
