Track rod end

So finally I got round to mounting my calipers and wheels (to make sure they fit) The calipers do fit under the wheels with a massive 2mm clearance
lol. However, the track rod end hits the wheel, it is the little fin bit (shown at the top of the photo) that sticks out causig the problem, is there
any issue with me cutting this bit off? Dont want to cause myself and problems when I get to IVA bit I guess cutting it, smoothing it and shrink
wrap/rubber coating it will be ok?

can't you swap the sides they're on? with the right one on the left side, the fin points away from the wheel?

Hadnt thought of that.... wasnt thinking straight as I was annoyed I scratched one of my nwly painted alloys... cheers

no doubt it'll end up hitting something on the upright, but you might be lucky!

that might not be a bad thing... with the current lock I think it can probably turn tighter than a london taxi.... quick rack is definately needed!

think mr IVA might have an issue with them fouling the upright though

If swapping them doesn't help then you should be OK cutting them off. I'd do it with a hacksaw though and not an angle grinder as the heat
will knacker the joint.

Problem sorte it would appear they had been put on the wrong ends of the rack as one marked L which i presume is for left was on the right

Hack-sawed mine.. Found had to have the pointy end forward to help stop fouling on wing stays.. Even then I had to use the "adjuster"
(hammer) to put a neat ding in the wing stays so no fouling happens at any suspension setting+ full lock..
Others have used stops to reduce the lock to over come this problem. I didn't like this idea of engineering stops on the rack. Seems like a bad
idea IMHO as the rack is mission critical and you can generate a lot of force on the stops due to the gearing on the rack.. This needs to be thought
about. I think the existing "stops" are made by the pinon running out of teeth on the rack, not
checked this mind..
It seems not every MK suffers from the wingstay/track rod fouling..
