So I've now finished my Winter Upgrades and only got the Rolling Road session left to have done (booked for the 24th Jan with Dave Walker).

Where did you get the idler for the altenator from of did you make it?

Bought it as part of the alternator kit. I got mine from GBS in Nottingham but if you Google Brise they can be found there.

Excellent job there. The fit and finish you have accheived is top notch! Well done. I went from Pinto to Zetec last winter. Not too bad of a job but
time consuming. Did you get for a new zetec? Looks clean if it's not a brand spanker.

That depends on whether you know my wife if the cost is important to you because you are making plans then you can u2u me and I'd be happy to
give you some details.
As a guiding principle and as justification for me. I had a budget to build and run a car over 5 years. I broke it down into purchase, build, upgrade
and running costs.
Spent much less actually building it and getting iit through IVA then I budgetted for but the compromise was I used a 1300 x-flow engine which had
some significant advantages actually.
I regiistered the car on June 10th last year and since then have used it a lot. I joined the SKCC Southern Kit Car Club and subsequently I'm out
in it every weekend rain or shin (not snow), been to France in it 3 times and at least another three trips there this year. As well as weekend blats
and road trips around the uk. We have an "Up the east coast down the west coast road trip in late April planned ending at Stoneleigh. You can see

The point I'm longwindedly getting to is that I had no idea how much I was going to use it when I IVD'd it but having got it on the road and
lived with it for 6 months AND loved it and the like minded friends I've made in the process convinced me my 5 year plan was worth continuing
with.
The winter mods weren't cheap. You can work out what a crate Zetec, Jenveys and Emerald k6 cost. Then you have custom 4-2-1 exhaust, custom
Rollcage, engine mounts, lightened flywheel, raceline sump, raceline water rail, denso alternator and all the other additional costs you incur when
doing this that add up to more then you want it to.
So no it wasn't cheap but in the 5 year overview I am underspent at this point and I am much higher up the grin factor curve then I expected.
My mantra is "Do it once, do it right" as I said I do a lot of miles so reliability is key for me. Performance is a given.
Over egged justification over.

from memory i think he went for the whole new engine package from gbs including the ecu and throttle bodies.

I bought the kit of parts fron GBS in Nottingham. Lession learned from this was they were the cheapest but I spent more in tieing it all together so
may not have been the most cost effective way to do it.
Engine is a new crate engine
custom zorst 4-2-1 and the custom rollcage was Powerspeed in Ashford Kent. These guys are excellent for this stuff and I would recommend them for this
type of fabrication to anyone.
Noise. The zorst is 93dB but this is increased to 97dB with the induction noise. I know I'm biased but I thing it sounds great.
On Powerspeed, I am organising an Open Day in early March as part of SKCC's programme of activity and there will be a host of stuff going on
including,
A talk on exhaust design
Demo's of exhausts being bent
examples of work they have done
Opportunities to talk about future upgrade type work
ecu remapping for most of the main manufacturer engines
we are currently in discussion about what else will be included so keep your eyes open for an invite via these boards.

for the person above who's interested in knowing the db level, dont think Neil has had his tested as yet. I'm running a powerspeed set up (
complete ) with 7 inch can and when that was 'fresh' it was 95db, last noise test was 98. If any of you are thinking about replacing your
'zorts' then would heartily endorse Powerspeeds work. They know what they're about and the results after a remap on mine were very
pleasing with significant increase in torque without bhp loss.
As Neil says he's arranging as part of an SKCC event to host an Open Day/Morning at PSpeed early March. For anyone interested we'll no doubt
have a run around first and then end up at their premises for butties and a nose around.

Sorry I did waffle a bit.
I had to buy a few additional items to finish things off with the kit from GBS whereas the quots I had from Raceline and Dunnell were complete kits.
When I added the "extra" items onto the list I was no better off.
