Can anyone out PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME.. Took the Indy out last night and it was running great, until about a mile from home, the engine just died
without any indication.
At first I thought it was out of fuel so directly went to get some fuel via he wife, anyway big do's and little do's it didn't respond,
turned over but no start.
Got I home and my first thoughts were the usual fuses etc. and the feed to the fuel pump. It was not doing the usual ticking but nothing. So checked
the power to the pump and put the faithful test lamp on it and when you turn the ignition on it lights up then goes out. Put some live to he pmp and
it runs.
Is this a relay issue or ECU issue, I am totally baffled and really do need some help and guidance, so i would appreciate anyone who has any clues on
his very worring concern?.
The engine set up a fuel injected 2ltr Blacktop.
Regards
A very worried man
i assume injection? injection pumps prime for a second or 2 when the ignitions put on, so that seems ok
what about your ignition system? is it megajolt? is the ignition ecu getting power ok?
The pump would normally tick then go to start, never had a problem in the past which gives me the impression the issue is somewhere around the pump
fel pump, but couldn't be totally wrong. It s an ECU not mega jolt.
At my wittsend.........

Tried a live too the pump and it just ticks , it would normally stop ticking once the fuel gallery was full. Not tried to start it but will give that a go......
Blocked fuel filter? Are you getting fuel to the injectors?
I believe the filter is built onto the pump. No fuel at the gallery which initially pointed me towards the pump.....the pump is very relatively new....

What ecu are you running?
Fuel pump primes for 10 seconds then looks for a crank signal to keep running so possibly crank sensor or cable?

Hmmmmm the sensor does soundtrack lie it could be a possibility, where s this located on the blacktop, not to familiar with engine, always been a Pinto man in the past.......
Just relialised the issue with the crank sensor that the pump does not trip in like it shoud on activating the ignition.......

No totally lost. Got spark at the plugs, so all seems fine at that end, just discovered that when I send a separate live to the pump and then a separate earth it is shorting out, the pump s about 4 weeks old so now swaying towards a faulty pump????
Well everyone I owe you all a BIG thanks and I would if I could and that is buy you all a beer, it turned out to be the pump in the end, fit another
pump tonight and it fired into life...... What a relieve this has been, totally stumped at the beginning, but with all the expert guidance from the
experts on this forum I have managed to solve the problem.
Again thank you ALL so so much, it has been very much appreciated.
Kind and respectful regards
