I am wanting a set of new alloys to put on my Indy
Could anybody tell me the correct wheel size,i want to stick with 15" but what is the offset and width

how did the video turn out?

I've got 6" rims with ET52 Ford rims to give an idea of the make ET size you are likely to find for a Ford.

The same fitment as a ford focus, that's all they need to know in your local shiney wheel shop! Say the words 'MK Indy' and they get very confused :-)

AFAIK the et / offset is different for different width wheels (6, 6.5 or 7 inches seem most popular) so it'll differ slightly if you go for different widths.

I *THINK* (it's a while ago now I ordered mine) mine were 15 x 6.5 et 38 with ford PDC.

this is constant with any wheel size.

et52.5 is for the newer model fords, like focuses/foci etc. the sierra used et 38, so is what you want so scrub angle remains the same.
using 52.5 will set your wheels further in by an extra 14.5mm, so they will look even more tucked in on the back end, possibly fouling on bits and bobs.

Hi,

Correct offset for the Indy with 6.5" wheels is ET38 - this is the nominal wheel size used for the Indy as I understand it.

If you go for 7" wheels you will need a slightly larger offset to compensate for the wider wheel (if you want the outside of the wheel to remain as it is for a 6.5" wheel). As this is 1/2" (12mm) bigger wheel, ideal offset will be 38 + (12/2) = ET44. I had Et45 wheels and they worked a treat. If you use significantly less offset you run the risk of the wheels sticking out beyond the arches.

i've just measured the width of my 17's and they are 8" wide!! Will these fit even under the rear arches??

Jay - you will probably find that your wheels are 7" wide as the measurement is actually taken from where the tyre bead sits - i.e. the inside of the rim lip. This is always about an inch narrower than the physical width of the wheel to the outer edges. You can double check by looking at the size stamped on the back of the rim

Only thing thats stopping us drivin is brake parts that we are waiting on.
And seats!! if i order them off cashy it'll take 2 weeks ( stupid me forgetting to order them)
Wonder if any local shops stock the cobra roadster 7's?

Good man, glad to hear it. I doubt anyone local has seats, you might be able to get one temporarily fo Bill maybe so you could take her to the track? Mind you if you've got no brakes that might not be such a hot idea!!
I doubt anyone locally has cobra 7s, but it might be worth a few calls just in case.

Continuing this thread If I have a set of 6.5 with ET16 wheels for a seirra (ET38 std) It would appear that they will be approx 1" further out than optimum is this likely to be a problem
