Sva next week noted no self centering action when i drove the car to mot anyone have any suggestion for set up,its a gt1
it differs slightly from oringinal as has an escort mk 2 quik rack mounted higher than oringinal narrowed sierra item,also track rods go through top of steering arm,previously went through under side,any advice or thoughts on best set up to get some self centering appreciated

I can't remember which it is, but a healthy dose of toe in/out should give some self centre effect. Also does the GT1 use the Sierra front uprights, with MK's adapter like the Indy? If so have you got the castor angle set to the maximum available?

Thanks for the reply it does have the same set up virtually as the indy it does use the sierra upright with the mk adaptor.

I am not sure Nick 205 is correct as I was under the impression that it was the castor angle that was the lagest self centring force

Caster angle normally takes care of the self centering, but as its sometimes hard to alter this, toe out will give some self centering effect for the SVA, the more the better, but remember to adjust it back afterwards or it will trash your tyres.

Lowering your tyre pressures may help too.

Tyre presures lower = more self centering

1-2 degrees toe out, max castor and 40psi will give self centering.

Tyre pressures defo better higher for SVA - reduces contact patch and resultant friction.
