2 Questions:

Can someone tell me where these should fit in my MK Indy Kit.

Should there be so much space between the rear shocks and the suspension, or should I use washers to fill up the space?.. Rescued attachment CIMG0806.JPG

Hi,these are your steering rack extensions to make up the amount cut out of your rack.
Yes you need some washers or spacers for the gaps in the rear uprights.

Pic 1: They are your Steering rack extensions. Screw them on to eachend of the rack (one on each side) then screw on the track rod end which will then bolt onto the front hub.

Pic 2: Pack out with washers.

May be a daft one but you have had the rack shortened yeh? Thats why we need the extensions.

MK sportsacrs shortened your rack,this is why you have the track extensions

If you still have a std rack, MK will need to shorten it for you which is included in the price of the kit so i believe. I think they may do it on an exchange basis if they have any in stock.

well I'm gonna have to disagree with that

The extensions screw in as tight as possible into the track rods ends, loctite even to stop them unscrewing (remember the track rods in the rack can rotate) - you don't want your tracking changing when you drive or worst still, the track rod end coming off although you would realise this was about to happen as the steering would be behaving weirldy!.

The other ends screws onto the track rod and there should be a half nut to lock up against the extension. You adjust the tracking by undoing the locknut, turning the track rod and doing it up again.

When you cut your rack, make sure that there is sufficient thread on the track rod, to allow for adjustment and there should be 1.5 times track rod diameter threads inside the extension.

Hopefully the photo below makes it clear; the track rod extensions are to my design but in principle the same as yours.

make sure you've fitted the top front wishbones the right way round. they are left and right handed. the longer leg to the front ?
a pain to change latter on when it's all together

I bought a quickrack, but now I see that the thread on the extensions is different from the thread that is tapped in the quickrack, any ideas?...

Off topic slightly but nice looking diff there.

What did you use to plug the drive shaft holes with and what did you clean it up with. In particular that front flange looks brand new, or is that it? Brand new?

Steering arms screw into the steering rack. Extensions onto steering arms and track rod ends onto extensions. Hope that makes sense.

No my diff is from a 1988 sierra.
First I steamcleaned it to get the grease off it, then I used a dremel to clean it, then I painted it with primer and final a highgloss paint, to fill up the holes I used the lits off strawberry jam bottles...
