where to place the fuell pump

Is it best to place the fuell pump near the petroltank or near the engine...

I'm building a MK indy powered with a zx9r engine.

I don't think it really matters too much on a car this small and low. Pumps are either push or pull to the carbs/injection, and should ideally placed appropriately.
