This is a moment for my own posterity - it'll be on it's wheels for the first time tomorrow!
No brakes in as yet, but having the ability to roll it onto the drive will make life a lot easier than trying to tip toe around the thing to get stuff
done (plus the garage is a complete mess because I get get anything swept up properly!)
It has actually got all of the steering attached and working though!

Looking very tidy, I remember that stage well, Its great to get them on the ground.
Steve.
I'd have liked to have the brakes etc. in place, so it becomes a proper rolling chassis. Space is proving a problem at the moment though, so a
couple of wooden chocks will be the order of the day!
How have you put the sterring rod extentions on your car? At the outside, so the TRE is on the end of it and it adjusts between the rod and
extention?
The track rod ends are tightened onto the extensions.
The extensions are screwed on to the tie rods that come out of the rack. Then you rotate the tie rods to give you adjustment for the tracking.
You may need to slacken the clips on the rack gaitors to stop them winding up.
Steve.
Presumably the lock nuts tighten up against the extentions then?
Yep!
Woo hoo! It'll be running and SVA'd by next weekend then?
Not so much - I can't afford an engine or lights yet, so it'll be a flintstone style car soon (and will probably remain that way until I get a pay rise or bonus!)
A pay rise? I wouldn't hold your breath....
I'll get it, it just may not be from the same company
I should hopefully have this thing dropped onto it's wheels this afternoon with a little help from Mark.
I've got a few problems with the steering at the moment (steering column bush doesn't seem to fit too well - I'd be grateful if anyone
with photo's of this fitted could post them).
I also need to find a decent powder coating place - I'm going to keep the old sierra wheels on the car for a few months (years?) in lieu of
splashing my alloy wheel budget on some Wilwood calipers all round.
I know of a decent powder coating place in Malton if that's any good?
Actually, I've found two in/near York: -
Lewis Powder Coatings Ltd
Unit 8, Acaster Estates, Cowper Lane, Acaster Malbis, York, North Yorkshire YO23 2TX
Tel: 01904 704178
A & M Beevers & Sons
Manor Farm, Green Lane, East Cottingwith, York, North Yorkshire YO42 4TT
Tel: 01759 318998
Dunno if they're any good though?
It'll do for me - depends on how much it costs (that'll be the difference between poweder coating and hammerite!).
It might look crap, but I have a theory that Wilwood calipers are better than shiney new wheels.
Is this any help?
Steering Bush
Mike
My Willwoods are very nice, and were about £115 a piece (+ pads)....
Your wheels are nice too! I looked at them myself, but the design changes slightly when the wheel gets bigger, and using rear discs means I have to
use at least 14" wheels.
I think the steering bush is wrong because I've put it in the other way around
I never said I got it right! But it works for me so far!
Cheers
Mike

I've priced up as £270 for a front kit (calipers, discs, pads and brackets) and £320 for the rea Powerlite Handbrake caliper.
Figuring on about £160 to get my sierra units properly reconditioned, I'd rather take the plunge and put up with crappy wheels for a while knowing I not got ugly pieces of pig iron behind them!
Soon for sale - 2 sets of sierra front calipers, 1 set of rears!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 08:55 AMYep, I would do that too Steve. You can pick up some good wheels when they come up and when you get your bonus....
Plus, if you podwer coat the wheels black they won't stand out as being steels!
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:00 AMThe suggestion has been to do them in silver - apparently they look good when clean and shiney. Bit dubious myself about that though!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 09:05 AMNah, satin black without a doubt! It'll go nicely with the orange too!
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:07 AMAnd the red as well
iank - 22/9/06 at 09:08 AMNotice you've got those plastic chassis stands. Be careful when getting it down, at least one person on here has had them collapse They don't like having any twist applied, easy to do when shoving it around to get a better grip.
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:09 AMThey're already bending a little under the weight - I';m dropping it before I should because I don't want to here that crash in the nmiddle of the night when it all goes wrong!

Ooops, I thought it was orange for some reason......
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:15 AMI wanted it orange, but it was over ruled by Chief of Staff, Domestic Operations.
I should really stop asking her opinion!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 09:22 AMTee hee, I like that!
Yellow is the way forward.....
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:25 AMComplete with black checks and white trim, by any chance?
And for all those clarly not working for a Friday:
[Edited on 22/9/06 by StevieB]
Guinness - 22/9/06 at 09:39 AMGot that PACMAN last week, still don't know how it works as a XL file? Got sonic too if anyone wants it!
Cheers
Mike
Coose - 22/9/06 at 09:39 AMI'm cold calling - it's great fun when nobody will speak to you!
Yep, sounds ideal for a colour scheme that, especially when Yamerah powered!
p.s. I'm still crap at pac man!
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:43 AMI got Pacman, Golf, Tetris and Sonic. My boss sent it to me, so that must be permission to play it at work?
I thought all cold calling was done from small African nations with no workplace regulations?
How about this one:
DIY Si - 22/9/06 at 09:44 AMI'm not working, and still can't figure out how to get xl to play it.
Guinness - 22/9/06 at 09:46 AMI have finally managed to get my laptop to get my work email / files via my home network! Only been with the firm 9 months!
So working from home today!
Mike
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:46 AMYou just open the file in XL and it works.
Maybe you need a newer version of XL to work it?
DIY Si - 22/9/06 at 09:48 AMCould it be because I have a mac? XL opens the file, but only shows the opening screen as a spreadsheet.
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:49 AMThat might be the issue!
DIY Si - 22/9/06 at 09:51 AMBalls. That means I'm going to have to do something productive after all.
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 09:55 AMNah - just search google for ways to make Mac XL work properly instead!
DIY Si - 22/9/06 at 10:02 AMI would do, but I dont know enough about xl to figure out why it won't work!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 10:04 AMWe had a power cut mid-catapult! I thought my pc had crashed!!!
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 10:06 AMHeart pounding moment then?
Marks just come back into the office looking the most miserable I've ever seen him. Maybe he needs to play Cat-a-pult too!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 10:07 AMHe's always miserable!
Actually, that's not true....
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 10:11 AMI tend to find that when he's annoyed, he becomes mischevious and needs to be monitored at all times!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 10:16 AMLuckily it's a side I don't see! The best way to combat that is to either give him a Chinese burn or push nim over on to his back and laugh as he tries to get up! See how he sweats.....
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 10:31 AMWhingy, moany, whiny - someone missed their mid morning nap I think!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 10:34 AMSlap the palm of your left hand with the first two fingers of your right hand and shout 'PLATE-OF-PEAS, PLATE-OF-PEAS'!
That'll sort out the whinging.....
[Edited on 22/9/06 by Coose]
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 11:10 AMI'll try it this afternoon. It'll probably end up prompting him to go get food.
Coose - 22/9/06 at 11:12 AMNot that it takes much anyway!
Here's a tip - never play 'I-Spy' with him - it ends up as 'Ice-Pie'..... Mmmmm..... Pieeeeeeeee...........
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 12:21 PMMoaning sorted - bought hima pack of chocolate digestives!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 12:39 PMHe's easily pleased, though I'm sure Miss Moly ('er indoors) would disagree...
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 12:44 PM50p well spent - I don't want him still angry when we sort my car this afternoon and him just throwing it down!
Coose - 22/9/06 at 12:50 PMJust make sure he's underneath it. At least it'll have a soft landing!
StevieB - 22/9/06 at 12:54 PMHe still doesn't know why I asked him to help - I need a human car jack!
It'll be a good test of his bench pressing skills while he holds it and I put the wheels on!
