Radiator - Maximum width?
mackei23b - 5/1/07 at 09:20 PM

Hi there

What is the maximum width of radiator that fits under the MK nosecone.

What radiators have you used, I know POLO and MICRA are favourites, if you've used these ones what model / year did you use as I know they vary.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards

Ian

Some time back Chris_R wanted to know if a Rover rad would fit in an Indy nose cone. I cut a bit of card the same size and tried it for him.

It measured 525mm L x 460mm H, but apparently the outlets would clash with LA/LB.

Can't help with the spec from Polo / Micra though as I'm using an old Caterham one!

We've used Micra rads without any problems. Late 80's upto early 90's models. D to J prefixed registrations.

Do you have a picture of it installed?

This any good?

you can kind of see the brackets that we used to fit it in this pic.

Just needed to bend some stainless (i think we used) - two identical top brackets and two U shaped ones for lower mounts - You can just about see the lower one half way down the LHS. Rad fixes to brackets using self tapping screws / bolts onto rad.

Hi,
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's more important about the Micra Rads than just the year - Hellfire Phil is correct about the year, but I am pretty sure that it has to be the 1.0 litre Micra as the 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 etc all have the filler cap and entry/exit holes in the wrong place.

(you may need to check above!!!)
