What is the overall size of a MK Indy

This is my first post so please be gentle!!!

I'm looking to build my first car and have almost decided on a MK Indy. The problem I have is that I am quite restricted on room. Does anyone know what the overall length and width is?

Welcome to the nuthouse Lee!

Most of us are quite nice most of the time!

The MK chassis is basically the same dimensions as the book. Which means 42" wide by about 11' long. Add a nose cone to this length so about 12.5' when complete.
Width wise- this is basically the track of your axles which on the Indy is the same as a Sierra: 57.8". You'll need to add a couple of inches to this depending on your wheel arches.

Where are you by the way? I only ask as you could pop along to a show or someone who'd finished an Indy and see how big theirs is (their *car* thankyou Hippy)

I'm based in Birmingham. I went to the Kit Car show on Saturday and got blown away with the standard of the cars there!!!

What is the 'book' that everybody refers too? (Embarassed at how little I know!!!)

What engine will be putting in? I was alos at the Newark show with my Indy Blade.

It was the yellow car on the Mk Stand on saturday (the one covered in flies)

My Indy dimensions are:

3260mm nose to tail
1680mm across the rear arches
1650mm across the cycle wings
1050mm o'ert roll bar

I can thoroughly recommend the Indy, go on you know it makes sense.

The Book is Ron Champions: Build Your Own Sports Car for £250- or less.

Ron invented the Locost- a variation of which is what you're gonna build.

It's a bit controversial- the chassis plans are not in any way describable as accurate and loads of other bits are a little under-described (to be polite) but it's what started a lot of us off and it is pretty inspirational.

Hope the build is starting well!

I am currently building a GT1 (slowly!) in Rubery, near Safeway),

(Apologies for those not from south Brum if you're getting bored with all the local references!)

and a mate of mine is building a Pinto-Indy over in Redditch. We should all compare notes.

Leew, you can now compare a car engine to a BEC MK within a few miles of your house, although none of them are finished!

A mini meet sounds like a good idea.

Adam If possible it would be appriciated if you could arrange for me to see your mates project with the pinto engine. I'm trying to decide what engine to use.
