MK Silencer Problem

Hi All,

Has anybody out there ever taken the end off the standard Indy Pinto exhaust can.....?

The 4 Rivets holding the tailpipe to the can on mine are rattling like hell...

Is taking the end off a good idea or not ?
I guess when I drill out the old rivets I'm going to push part of them inside the can and would like to remove these.
Will I be able to retrieve the bits if I take the tailpipe off completely.

More to the point will I ever get it back on again...???

When (If) it goes back together I think I'll add another 4 equally spaced rivets as well just for good measure.

All thoughts gratefully recieved.

John

Yes you can take it apart. Drill out with probably a 5mm bit.

The end section will pull out but a bit of force maybe required.

Refit with a rubber mallet if force is required.

You will be able to remove the old rivets from inside the can.

Put a line of exhaust sealant around the can and in the rivet holes to seal.

The new rivets should not rattle.
