Dilema - New Chassis or not?
Nosbod - 19/10/07 at 09:17 PM

I've got a standard Indy on order - hopefully ready in 3 weeks or so, but having read a couple of posts on here i'm not sure whether the "new chassis" is the better option?

It's an extra £600 which i can afford, but would it be more beneficial to spend this on better gear for the standard chassis?

I'm fitting an R1 engine and will be using the car predominantly on the road with the odd track day.

Any advice much appreciated.

Chris.

From what i have heard and read, the new chassis offers improved handling and rigidity over the old chassis albeit at a slight weight increase.
if your already thinking about it i would do it

You can allways upgrade components later but its hard to upgrade the chassis once its built.

<arnie>DO IT! DO IT NOOOWWWW!</arnie>

Seriously, if you're having doubts now you might as well do it otherwise it'll just drive you mental later. I'm so glad I went for the new chassis, to me it just looks so much better than the old one (i'm no structural expert but I just get a better feeling about it)

I would stick with the std if for the road. Desyboy has an R1 Indy and it's a belter!

You probably wont know or feel the difference on the road.

Strictly speaking you can't, unless you get another SVA and reg as new chassis (of a different design) means new car.
