I bought an original airbox off ebay for my 4xv R1 engine. Took delivery today.

I have tried it on, but now its far too tall! (even with bonnet bulge).

Any solutions? I can't rotate it 180 degrees as the carb inlets are not equally spaced.

Maybe I could run some flexible ducting from the carbs to the airbox? Would this be ok?

I've seen on ebay bike carbs on car manifolds that have 4 individual little conical filters, they take up loads less space - should be able to find them quite easily.

it can be roatated (just need to cut the plastic lip off) but that was still to tall for my MNR

I very carefully cut a rectangle around all 4 intake holes turned the filter around then reattatched, difficult to explain the R1 is in another garage but will try and get a picture to explain what I mean,
Basically you end up with a rectangle of plastic that fits all 4 inlets and an air box with a rectangle missing if you now rotate the filter 180 deg the 2 parts should mate up, now either have it plastic welded or make up an alloy 3mm plate and pop rivet on.
