I'm finishing the assembly of my car and i would like to try it on track, next Sunday

The engine is the r1 2003. I haven't installed any "power commander" or "rapid bike" yet..

I would like to know the limitations i will have with the engine running on stock maps (like rpm, oil pressure and temp., water temp.) and which advices can you give me for 1st time use on track.

I would be very wary of running the car without a power commander on track as the engine will probably be running quite lean (which can ultimately lead to melted pistons etc in the worst case). Can you not get one in time and run it with a borrowed map??

Without looking at the vids on Youtube, are you running the engine with the stock airbox and exhaust can?

There is no change to the oil, rpm or temp using a powercommander. It only affects the fueling (unless you have an ignition module)

I would not risk using the stock map on track especially if the air temps are warm.
You could however richen up the mid to top by 5% on the powercommander and I'd say you'd be fairly safe, though wouldn't want to garauntee it.. You really need to get it checked on a RR.

It is very easy to melt pistons & blocks on these engine.

I'd also suggest if the engine uses 9 plugs as standard to use 10's instead.

I've a stack (albeit from an 04-06 motor) of barrels and pistons in my garden with holes and scores from last years racing.

The 2002/3 motor is far more robust than the later 2004 + motor - it is nowhere near as marginal on cooling for example. So take the above comments with a pinch of salt.

Ideally you should use a PC but as long as you are using the airbox and you are not ragging it at 11K+ rpm all the time you should be OK. Keep an eye on temps and come in if you see water and/or oil temps that are too high.

Once you get a PC there are several maps from dynojet that will be close to what you have. Alternatively richening up the top end a bit should keep you safe. CR9e Iridium plugs work well.
