Got myself a R1 can but how do i modd it to fit my exhaust? The link pipe is at the wrong angle so do i just hack it off near the can?? Not worried
about the 90deg bend in the tailpipe.
What happens if i drill out the pop rivits? What will come off? Anyone got any pics of an R1 can in pieces?
To straighten up/change the angle of the pipe you need to cut a section of the pipe:

Not a great diagram, but you will have to cut at the red lines and re weld the pipe up.
I haven't drilled out the rivets but you can do so I believe, to let you change the angle of the exhaust outlet.

If it's the older style titanium can, drilling out the rivets only takes off the shiny end caps. The titanium innards appear to the silver
soldered to the blue outer casing.
With mine, I took out the rivets and then the end caps. Then, using a thin [1mm] cutting disk in an angle grinder, cut a couple of mm's inside
the line of rivet holes [i.e. towards the middle] and it eventually all came apart [titanium makes great white sparks when you cut it!!!].
I turned mine into a hotdog [straight through] muffler with a perf core and SS wool - but being titanium, it's very hard to figure out ways to
join all the bits back together. Probably wouldn't bother going through all that pain again, though it does work well.
I guess i will have to TIG the joints? Its a stainless link pipe. MIG would rust wouldnt it?
What an arse this turned out to be.
The whole thing was titanium including the link pipe, which made joining all the pipework loads of fun.
Thankfully had a bit of SS pipe which fitted inside the link pipe on the silencer with a bit of brutality!
Sorted in the end
Get it polished up Matt
Fecking exhaust!!!
Now i can hear all the other clunks and bangs in the car!
A touch of the VHT paint and all finished.
i would guess that it will be as close to perfect as you can get
judging by the standard of your entire build
and it could be worse you could own an mk bathtub

Yeah, I replaced my CAT with a huge high flow ceramic one from the US. This was for SVA but doubles as a very quiet track silencer!
I don't think the CAT is actually particularly restrictive as it is so small. I would have thought the fold back piping in the silencer itself is
the most restricitve. A straight through is definitely least restrictive but can be a little loud!
Hi, Does the R1 silencer have a cat fitted within if it does which models does it affect?
