1. How long would it normally take for an engine to reach its running temperature whn left idle?
2. What is the recomended idle rpm for an 893 engine with a dynojet kit?
3. The engine starts off instantly and idle good but when revving it till 3K it does not sound as smooth as once it gets up to 4K. Is this normal?

Pretty much as gav said, although if just sitting idling and the outside temperature is fairly low it can take a good while for the water temp gauge to move at all.

Idles around 1100 when warm.

Mine is fairly smooth at any revs - can be "lumpy" when idling cold, but a little throttle makes it smooth - sounds like yours needs to be looked at - any motorbike shop should be able to help...fairly basic stuff.

Depending how it's been jetted you could have a big flat spot too, which won't help. What size jets did you put in?

Carb balancing is easy, I'd recommend buying a set of gaugues and doing it your self, it'll be the same as getting someone to do it, but you'll have it for another time.

I have a friend of mine who has the equipment for balancing, However the engine was not yet up to its full running temperature so I will first leave it to warm before i try it again
