What to look for when inspecting ZX12 clutch?
eznfrank - 14/2/10 at 08:29 AM

I'm about to stick some Barnett clutch springs in the ZX12 and this will be the first time I've ever been anywhere near the clutch. I have no idea what condition it's in so what should I be looking out for?

I have had the engine running but not driven the car yet.

Do you have a pair/set of vernier calipers?

If so, then I'd suggest measuring the plates and compare to (haynes or other) book tolerances...

Obv. also check for discolouration and general W&T

Not got any verniers but have been meaning to get some anyway.

I'm hoping all will be ok as it's only done 2300 apparently.

You got an Aldi nearby?

Linky thing

As above friction plates within tolerance and plain plates glass flat and not gone blu/brown/black with heat

Changing the springs is a five minute job Iwouldn't even bother checking the clutch plates,if the engines only done 2300.
Just fit the springs and make sure the clutch cable has a couple of mm of free movement and see how you.
