I was chatting to a mate tonight who mentioned that the ZX10r engine was 55kg with all ancillaries... would eh be right???

Sounds a bit too light, most big bikes are around 150kg and up, I would have thought that more than 1/3 of the weight as engine. I may be wrong though...

That's what I thought, but didn't want to burst anyones bubble...

From memory I think my bandit is 170kg, and moving the spare gsx-r engine I had (600) was really difficult and not to blow my own trumpet I'm quite strong so would have thought it was more than 55kg, maybe more like 75 actually?

55 - 60kg sounds about right for a ZX10r to be honest. Probably closer to the 60kg but not far off. Its lighter than an 06 R1 and i easily picked one of those up off the ground and carried it about at chest height

well I can lift 3 engines at once, one each arm and one balancing on my head

(all lies ofc!)

yep the zx10 is very light, i lifted it into the car by hand and im not particularly big.

i would say 55-60 is about right

Mark at Mac Motorsport told me the ZX10r engine and gearbox weighs in at 68kg
