Anyone got a rough idea what the rev limit is On a r15jj and does it need reducing when fitted to a 7 !!!
rough idea, 13750rpm. and no. Most folk just transplant as much as possible.
EDITED TO SAY, this is not true!!!

12,500 on mine from memory
No need to reduce it at all

its 12150 on 5pw
no redusing necessary
12,000 rpm, but don't go past 10500 as thats when they stop making thier power, and you're only putting uneccasery strain on the engine, and I've seen my fair share of R1 motors go pop from my racing days, they usually snap a conrod or jump teeth on the timing chain as the chain tensioners are a bit weak.
i thought that with it pulling a heavier car it would put alot of strain on the crank!!
how many miles will the engine last !!!
i just ran my car at newark show for its first time and it sounds like its done a big end also there is rather alot of copper filings in the
sump?
and im of to collect another engine today and dont fancy breaking this one before the iva lol

Sounds like the bike was crashed and laid on its side running or you were just sold rubbish!... its a PITA when someone sells you junk.
That aside the engine, gearbox etc are all designed to take the same load, it makes no difference car or bike as long as you get it cooled and
lubricated properly in this respect.
As the drive train is harder the shock loads are a bit higher.

Did you build or buy your Locost? Any pics?
11750 on 5jj r1 clocks
Fitted the new engine today maneged to find a 5jj for £450 with 6k on it it looks like new .. The only thing is it's not been ran for 5 years
the bike breaker went bust and the new guy has only just bought all the stock from liquidators I'll just have to see how long it lasts !!!!
Ive got pics but nit sure how to post them !!!!
