Its almost time for me to buy my engine and having never bought an engine before, never mind a bike engine. what should I be looking for?
specifically im looking for a 08+ busa engine and im probably going to go to a reputable supplier (as in malc at yorkshire engines).
Looking around at different engines for sale, a lot of places offer 28 days warranty, is that standard? as im unlikely to have the engine running in
28 days so wont know until its too late that I bought a pos.
in other words i dont want to burn £3-3.5k on a duff engine, what can I do to avoid this?
Thanks
Sounds like a job for Yorkshire Engines...
buy one off malc.... had a few probs with mine but he was always happy to help, even fetched me a replacement engine in the end, you dont get that on ebay !!
i would too love a hayabusa lump but always noticed they are dear to buy, why not try looking into kawasaki`s for £3.5k you can get a whole ZZR1200 bike on a 54 plate and know for sure that its running http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/bikes/kawasaki/zzr/postcode/sm68pf/radius/1501/sort/priceasc/engine-size-bikes/1070cc_to_1335cc/page/2?gquery= used%20motorbikes%20KAWASAKI%20ZZR
nope I definatley want a busa engine and I definatley want a 2008+, would have a B-King too obviously as its the same engine.
but are there things to look for when buying an engine its not like I can hear it fire up?
Thanks
well for a 2008 model am assuming the engine has come from a crashed bike and the things you would be looking is scratches and cracks, i dought you would blow the engine before you crash it, you need to be screaming at 200mph to blow them things and even then they proberbly still wont blow.
I was up at Malcs ( Yorkshire Engines) at the weekend.
Your timing is spot on - I think he's just got 4 Busa's in stock.
One of them looks absolutely brand new and others not far off.
There is nothing this guy doesn't know about bike engines. I speak from experience - you can buy in confidence.
ditto with Malc, he guarantees the engine works. Definately the best way to buy if you dont want to gamble.
Malc is your man simple as that, in the very very rare event you have a problem with the engine you purchase Malc will sort it 110% to your satisfaction.
well its every 1 to there own but did you know that the zx12r is known as a busa basha well it is do a bit of home work and you will see for your self and again malc is the 1 person i would highly recommend to get your engine from at the right price and no fuss he is a top man also only sells good engines and knows his stuff all the best paul
