I needed some non standard sprockets for a kart/buggy I have made for my son so I’ve just drawn some in solid-works and because they’re not being run at any kind of speed or load I’m just going to have them water or laser cut from mild steel.


Now my real question, I’ve got to make a chain diff for the BEC-Midi I’m building, it’ll probably be based on a fiesta/Escort or MX5 limited-slip-disk. Obviously part of this will involve sourcing sprockets with the right amount of teeth and a centre-bore & pcd to suit the diff. Where have other builder sourced these and at what kind of price?

Or could I do something similar to the above and have it machined or water-cut then anodised to harden the surface?

You can buy standard plate wheels in all sizes for not much money with a pilot bore. See cross and morse pdf catalogue online. Just need the bore opening up and holes drilling.

JB Gears in Wetherby 01937 845030. John is a top bloke, keeps blanks for most applications on the shelf with a 40mm 'pilot' hole. He is also able to drill the bolt holes etc at very little extra cost.
I bought one last week and had it drilled to suit a 100mm sierra cv joint, cost me under £30 inc drilling and postage.
He is also very good for front sprockets for BEC applications
Don't bother looking for a fancy website there isn't one, just give him a ring

The RGB guys have used B&C Express for years, I recently got mine from Talon Engineering. Both provide good service, Talon were a bit cheaper. I think it was 30-odd quid for hardened alloy sprocket to fit the Quaife diff also with lightening holes and cut in half to allow fitting/removal without splitting the chain.
