I've got a BUSA engined car in work. The oil temp' sender is T'd into the end of the pipe to the remote oil presure sensor. Obviously
there's no flow through this blind pipe (fine for pressure reading) so the gauge doesn't reflect the actual oil temp'.
Where's the best place to fit the sender?
The other end of the existing pipe is into the rear of the block oil gallery where the flexi pipe comes up to the head. Thats isn't an option as
it's tight for space/accessbbut I suppose the other end is. Is there a better position somewhere else on the engine or in the SBD dry
sump/system?
my caterham busa oil temp sensor was in the dry sump tank. but i didnt think this was the best solution either

Bottom of the dry sump tank is the usual place - that way you are reading the temperature just before it goes into the engine.
Mines fitted in a sandwich plate by the oil filter.
Those with dry sumps, can you give an indication of oil temps that your getting?

Interesting, what size cooler have you got fitted?

Ah, ok. Not a fair comparison then as I have the sender fitted a the oil filter.
Couldn't get temps up, (regardless of ambient temps), so reduced the size of the cooler from a 16 row at 405mm wide to a 10 row of the same
width. No change at all in temps. So Ive removed the cooler completely and have now seen temps of over 109. Before they wouldn't go above 65-70.
Oil tank is middle sized Pace tank so I carry around 6.5L of oil. Have also tried a an oil stat with the smaller cooler, no change!
Not overly happy with the temps as they are so need to put a cooler back in but don't want to keep throwing cash at the problem like it's
going out of fashion!!

Sump-scavenge pump-oil stat, (when fitted),-cooler, (when fitted),-oil tank
As the tank wasn't really an option and after a bit of research, I've fitted the temp sender to spare plug on the scavenge pump, where there's a choice of two possible outlet pipe positions. Drilled and tapped the original plug.
