Blade engine mounting bolt
asn163 - 27/8/05 at 07:04 PM

Just trying to remove the engine from my blade donor and I am having difficulty removing the lower rear mounting bolt, the long one which goes right across the frame.

Have got the nut off OK but the bolt won't. budge.

Does the bolt need to be unscrewed all the way out from the left hand side of the bike or should you be able to drift it out?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Simon

If its the one on the top of the gearbox then it isnt threaded through the engine casing itself, so you should be able to drift it out

Mines a 2002 so it may be different.

There is a pinch bolt which acts on the large barrel of the head of the long bolt.

You need to slacken than off, then the bolt will fall out easily.

I've got the respective bits on the garage floor if you need pics to clarify.

I've removed the lockring which is on the right hand side, same side as nut, but not noticed anything on head of bolt.

Mine is a 1998 bike so may be different.

Taken some pics just in case its the same, may give you a better view of what is going on.

I might be wrong but shouldn't that bolt come all the way out as its probably locking into a groove on the longer shaft?

Well on an RR-2 it doesn't, but earlier ones may do.

Looks different to my set up, I haven't. got the pinch bolts.
