Alrite lads,
could someone tell me please wats the best size for both fuel line and water hoses for an 98/99 R1 Engine
Thanks
Great way to introduce yourself Jimmy... no flies on you eh
I could tell you actually - but I wont!
From memory, I think that the outlet from the thermostat is 28mm. The R1 rad has 25mm main inlet and outlet diameters.
Fuel line is ok @ 10mm ID
10mm would obviously be fine, but 5/16th / 8mm is perfectly ample for under 200bhp. My injected R1 has 8mm to and from the throttle bodies, and most
pumps are 8mm outlets too, so saves you having to use adapter hoses etc.
Chris
nice one lads think ill just go for some 8mm fuel lines.
JImmy
by the way, where does everyone buy there hoses, pipes etc from?
thanks again
Halfords sell fuel hose in 1m lengths in various diameters. You even get a piar of hose clips included. You can use fuel hose for coolant but not
the other way round I'm told.
www.europa-spares.co.uk (I think this address is right) stock lots of hose.
thanks, will pop down tomorrow
by the way wheres the best place to buy metal fuel pipe stuff? how many fuel lines do i need to run to 98/99 r1
thanks again
Youll only need one fuel line for a carbed engine, although if you think you might want to upgrade in future, Id consider putting two through to
accomodate fuel injection, cos its a pain in the arse fixing another one in the tunnel when the side panels / prop etc are in the way. (also get an
injection friendly fuel tank if you might consider this in future)
You can get fuel pipe etc from any decent motor factors.

Jimmy
not with carbs no
ok cheers,
by the way where does the pipes which comes up off the gear box area? does it go into the airbox
thanks again
Jimmy
If its the one Im thinking of, its a breather which does go into the airbox on the bike, although you can put it into a catch tank if you're running a sausage airfilter.
