zx12 (zx14) oil filter threads
oddsaabs - 30/1/07 at 02:59 PM

Does anyone know the thread specs for the Kawi oil filter? I'd like to use one of these adapters to set up a remote cooler/filter arrangement but I'm not sure which to use. The ZX12 and 14 use the same filter size (different numbers on the spec sheet because there are different suppliers) and I figure someone out there must have built a remote filter system for there Kawi powered BEC.

Thanks for the help,
J

I figured out the oil filter threads are 20 x 1.5mm, which is fairly common on bikes. Now the challenge is to find a remote filter adapter that has the proper threads AND a 2.3" diameter O-ring seal. Most units have a 2 5/8" O-ring.

my sump is shortened and came with the car.. I believe Andy Bates is working on sumps at the moment for the Kawasaki's...

do you know how much they took off? and where is the oil filter fitted to

cheers

my filter is remote mounted with a take off plate

the sump has been shortened by a number of inches, never seen an original to compare it to be honest. Later bike engines all seem to be much taller than my old blade 919. Even with the chopped sump it sits as the lowest point on the car by a good inch or so

I would think a modified sump was a must to avoid ground clearance issues?

Hope this helps

Paul.
