Honda / Blade rectifier plug ?
Jon Ison - 4/3/07 at 03:11 PM

I would like too change the push in plug, its old and in the past has been a tad hot so also a little burnt.

Question, the three yellow wires, is it important they stay in the same position in the plug ?

Would it cause a problem if I was too shorten the wires in an effort too tidy up the engine bay wiring a little ?

Anyone konw a source for these plugs ?

When I changed my rectifier to a larger one the plugs did not fit, I bunged them on the new rectifier in the order that I picked them up in and it works fine.

All you have is a bridge rectifier inside the regulator so its would make absolutely no difference in what order they land as far as pulling out the volts, not sure how the regulator bit works but this stage is later on so irrelevent.

I asked the same question to Mark MAC#1 and he told me that it doesn't matters which way round the go - I will add however that it is fine to cut the wires shorter but they are quite heavy wires so if you have to elongate them at any point then you must use appropriate cable for it.
I am sure if you gave this guy a call http://www.polevolt.co.uk (Neil Talbot) he would be able to sort you out with corresponding plugs, he's a top bloke and local to me but does do mail order (he's also in the links section of this site).

cheers,
Steve.

Thanks,

Thinking about it a bit more is it ok too make them longer ? If I did so I could mount it in a position that would get more and cooler airflow around it ?

Currently its up on the scuttle behind the engine, it will be warm up there with no airflow too speak of.

Should be fine to make longer as long as you use the same sized cable, if you wantr some I think I have some 3mm spare, I think in yellow aswell, how much do you need jon.

As for the plug is the the one that specifically fits the rectifier?

Rich.

Me again,

Tried polevolt, your right, spot on bloke but unfortunately couldn't help, he did say he would love too get hold of the motorcycle plugs/connectors as he his asked quite regularly for them.

I asked what he thought too me doing away with the plug and using normal connectors, he didnt see it as a problem, does anyone see a problem with it ?

Shortie, yup the one that pushes into the rectifier, 5 cables but what looks like a plug for 6.

Thanks for the cable offers guys, I'm ok on that score.
