BEC cradle. Bushes or no bushes?
CraigJ - 5/5/07 at 04:42 PM

Have people who have made engine cradle's used bushes or have they just bolted straight to the engine?

If you've used bushes what size and wheres the best place to get them from?

thanks.

What have you done to the mounting points for strength? have you sleeved the mounts where the bolts go through or are they just hollow?

Mine are solid mounted to, though I've used some nylon washers between the cradle and chassis (probably for no god reason, but made me feel slightly better, so did it anyway)

Bushes for me, but with the six locating points its very stiff in them mounts.

I used a mixture of landrover poly buses as these are large and fitted the swinging arm holes and smaller bushes similar to the wishbone bushes to pick up on the rest, well anything to hand really.

Solid - as previously mentioned the engine is solid in the bike frame and hence a stressed member so best to keep it that way?
