Is it normal for one ignition coil to be extremely hot (after starting it up on the drive a couple of times), whilst the other remains fairly cool?

Ive never felt mine (so to speak) but theres no reason why one should get hot and not the other. Is the engine running cleanly and revving properly, cos if its not youve probably got one wired up the wrong way (tho Im not sure this would make them hot or not). Double check all your wiring as early blades wire up their ignition coilpacks different to later years, so its possible you may have looked at the wrong wiring diagram etc (I did this with a friends 93 blade and got a huge backfire for my troubles )

Odd problem really, it's worked fine for months but suddenly stalled one day whilst driving then refused to start for a little while. Once it did start up again, there was a severe lack of power which I haven't been able to diagnose as yet. Checked the fuel lines/pump and inspected/cleaned the carbs (not that they needed it) and replaced the plugs for good measure but still not fixed. It starts OK but sounds a bit rough and just stalls when I try to pull away.
Not sure if I should be able to tell simply from the noise if it isn't running on all 4 but it definately doesn't sound quite right.
Going to replace the coil anyway as it can't be right.
