hi all
i went to fit my carbs on my blade engine today but i just cant get the rubbers over the connectors on the engine.
ive done this last summer a couple of times no problems i can only put it down to the engine being freezing cold along with the carbs that were also
cold .
there wasnt much give in the rubbers,
ive tried lubing the rubbers also took them of put them in some boiling water for a hour still no joy.
anyone eles had this trouble ??
cheers simon
I recall something similar from my biking days. I warmed up the inlet rubbers in hot water and stretched them over some suitably oversized tube and
then let them cool outside. Once chilled, I removed the tube and fitted them using a bit of o-ring grease.
Although it was a long time ago......it should still work.
A smear of washing up liquid works wonders in situations where a rubber wont slip over.
I had this big time and for some reason it ended up being easier to put the rubbers on the engine first and then put the carbs onto the rubbers.
Never checked why but the carbs might be tapered slightly that made it easier ?
