Best cleaning product for engine

Hi Chaps

As per the title, is there a wonder product to clean alloy engine casings?

I've heard that oven cleaner, alloy wheel cleaner and cillit bang are all good but, any issues with using them or experience with something else?

Thanks!

Some pound shops sell an oven cleaner called Duzzitt which is awesome on Ally stuff.

The secret is generally in the product name, oven cleaner is best for ovens, guess what engine cleaner is best at?

I have always found a good jet washing followed by Jizer engine cleaner to do the job first time

What exactly are you trying t o remove?

For burnt on carbon, like on pistons, I used oven cleaner and a tooth brush.

For oil/grease then it is white spirit, again with a toothbrush. I tried the orange coloured gunk stuff but found it no better.

You can substitute petrol for the white spirit but do it outdoors due to the fumes.
