What are advantages of one over the other? Does either one have oiling or clutch problems? Is there a performance difference? thanks Bob

Up til 2004 the GSXR1000 had a slight power advantage (maybe 10hp) over the R1.

In 2004 Yamaha came out with the new R1, which according to sources is pushing about 6more hp at the rear wheel on the same dyno as a 1K both stock.
According to the dyno below 150.9hp stock. It also looks like the powercurve is cleaned up alot with a pipe (look around 7k).

I am having a CMC Locost built in the States with a GSXR1000 motor. Both are plenty powerful - I know that 'cos I broke my pelvis on a 2002R1.
