Hi folks
I am a newbie on here and fairly new to kit building (built a Westy when I was 23 - long tie ago!)
I am looking into using a RWD V6 and being a bit of an idiot, I would like to use an AlfaV6, 3.0 24V with a RWD conversion. (Told you I was an
idiot).
It seems that it may be a bit of a challenge which is why I have joined here, because you folks have a reputation for doing the craziest things with
engines and if the answer wasn't on here then it probably can't be done.
If it can't be done then my other options are
Duratec V6, plentiful but don't look or sound as fruity as the Alfa
The Mazda V6, looks fairly plain and is down on power on the other 2 (I believe Clairetoo on here is a bit of a whizz with them, can't seem to
find her here though!)
Peugeot V6. Good power but I hear it can be fragile
Alfa 2.5V6 with transaxle. Not ideal and don't have a lot of room for the gearbox at the back.
Back up Plan B, Renesis from the RX 8
Anyway, hello again and thanks in advance for any ideas or opinions you may have
Thanks folks
Rossi

Welcome to the mad house.
Alfa V6 24valve sounds glorious and for that reason alone you should do it. I say you rather than me because I don't think it's an easy road
to go down. I think Claire looked into the Alfa before she went Mazda. From memory, I think the problem packaging it is the offset of the cylinders.
The off side bank is set back and that means the engine has to go a long way forward to clear the pedal box. It has been done though. Mating a madza
V6 to a RWD gearbox isn't strieght forward either.
I wouldn't say an alfa v6 is idiotic, by lcb standards its on the mild side of unusual.
welcome to the madhouse.
Here I am
If you are planning to fit this V6 into a `Retroforza ' , then being Mx5 based I would say the Mx6 V6 is probably the only real choice - without
major body mods the Alfa and Duratec'c are just too big .
Thanks to all for your welcome and your comments.
I have sent Owelly a Pm to scratch his knowledge
I think I will have to have an in depth chat with Clair about the Mazda option. I would like about 230 (give or take a dozen or so) ponies out of the
engine and I am not sure the mazda can stretch to that without some modification. Thanks for your input Claire. What do you get out of yours?
I am cheating in a way as I have enlisted the services of Pip at WGT to help with the engine fettling!
Cheers

(would still like to get an ALfa in there though!! )
The last one I did was rolling-roaded at 206 BHP - that was a totally stock , high mileage motor .
I have just got the news that that Chris (who's Mx5 I made all the conversion parts....) has decided to give up on his (no garage , no tools ,
and not enough mechanical knowledge IMHO ) - so there may be a near complete setup going spare soon
I'm a little too angry to call him just now - I put a lot of work into that car

I take it all back and I bow in defference to your knowledge and expertise
I had no idea that level could be achieved. Do you have any pics of the installation please Claire? Do you think it would mate to a std 5 Gearbox. Would be handy and I could keep the LSD etc as well.
THanks very much
Oooh. Shiny!!
That looks a very neat install. KLZE eh?
Right, Google is my friend so I'm off a googlin'
See you all soon.
thanks Claire, nice setup there.

Hi all
I've got a V6 in a Robin Hood, Omega V6 3.0ltr 207Bhp.
Should be on the road later this year from a ground up rebuild.
Original 5 speed box & induction
Dry fitting, will need a slight bulge
There is one on the road in Ireland (NIse7ens) with throttle bodies.

Thanks for all the great info guys.
I have got myself a J spec MX6 so the donor is sorted.
Does anyone have a pic or even better some CAD drawings of the adaptor plate so I can let the CNC beast loose on it?
Thanks very much
Rossi
MG or Rover KV6?
There is a rear wheel drive box that fits the larger K series engines so will fit this or there are adaptor plates available so you can fit
alternative boxes.
Thanks for the info.
I am sticking with the Mazda KLZE engine as it has been done in the US before and it 'sort of' keeps it all in the same family!
Clairetoo is sorting out an adapter plate as she has the knowledge from a previous project, which I am very grateful for. IU am sticking with the
Eunos g/box as it should take up to the 230BHP that I am looking for with no snags.
Cheers
