Sierra Saphire

I remember reading that the Sapphire has a different back end - Is this right? If so can it still be used as the De Dion setup you'd use from a not Sapphire part without any issues?

Is that a trick question Chunkie?

The Sapphire does have a different backend from a hatchback Sierra in shape. Not in the running gear AFAIA. It's certainly not De Dion but can be used pretty much with most other Sierra transmissions of the non-LSD ilk.

IIRC the sapphire does not have either LSD or disc's on the rear.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Chunkie,

I used a Sapphire. It's fine.

I remember someone saying they were different- maybe Locost car club newsletter or something (a few years ago) but I've not seen any differences.

HTH,
James

only difference in the back end of later sierra's (not necessarily just saphhires asa far as i know) is that they use rear disc brakes as oppsoed to drums. not a problem for either dedion or irs though..

Ned.
