I am looking to get a donor car for my project but was wondering what I do with the shell and other gubbins that are left over.
I want to keep the reg so my car can be age related, so will I need to keep the V5. My question is will a scrappy take the car with out the V5 as I
thought you needed to turn this over when they take the car?
Mine took the shell without the v5... just didn't want a load of crap left in it. (left him the hub caps)
yep you will need to keep the v5 (in your name), you wont get that exact reggo, but another thats age related.
HTH fozzie
a lot of car breakers won't want the car. Scrap metal men on the other hand aren't so fussy. The biggest problem is getting the scrap to the
yard. In the end i paid 20 for them to collect it on a skip lorry.
I know Irvined found a locost solution. He cut the car up with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder and made multiple trips to the local tip. I believe people
carriers can be very useful.
scrap men obviously dont want loads of rubbish in it, but i make a point of leaving all spare metal in it, to make up weight to replace the bits you kept!

It's best to declare Sorn on it and pay the scrappy to take away what you don't need. Don't declare it scrapped to DVLA as you are only
disposing of some of the bits and keeping others. Keep the V5.

Scrapie took mine with no V5 , vin plate or chassis number and no questions asked Make sure there is no rubish as said or he will run a mile but also leave anything you dont need as getting rid of bits of car can be a right pain in the a**se ...Make it soon tho as price of scrap is still high enought for them to collect for free ...But for how long ?
